Our Web and App Design and Development Process
With 25+ years of experience behind us, we have refined our process for creating user-centric digital experiences that represent your brand, product, or service, produce results, and achieves your goals.
Step One
Discovery & Research
We start with a meeting to learn about your brand, products, services, audiences, desires, needs, and pain points. Using this information we develop a scope of work defining project deliverables, cost estimates, and a recommended timeline. After your review, refinement, and approval of the scope, we create a gannt chart for project management then do a deep dive into your brand. Depending on how developed your brand is, we may perform a SWOT analysis, develop a creative strategy framework, or write a positioning statement.

Step Two
Content Strategy
We perform a content audit. We then collaborate with your team to determine what content is necessary, what already exists, what can be deleted, and what needs to be created. This is also where we begin tackling Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing if part of the scope of work.

Step Three
User Experience (UX)
We create a skeletal framework representing how users will navigate through your website or app, in other words, experience it. We “find homes” for all content and determine features, functionalities, and elements (images, graphics, icons, links, call-to-actions, etc.), that are needed for the user to have an easy, enjoyable, and effective journey. This phase ends with high-fidelity wireframes your team can interact with to experience the users journey firsthand.

Step Four
User Interface (UI)
This is also known as the design phase. We determine relevant and engaging micro-interactions, highlight important information, and use subtle psychological design techniques that encourage your desired user interactions (i.e. click on a button to learn more or add an item to the cart then checkout). This phase ends with high-fidelity prototypes your team can interact with to review all final design decisions.

Step Five
Development
Equipped with proven solutions and industry best practices, we build your website or app using final content and the best framework or application for the job (for example, WordPress, headless CMS, or Laravel). This initial website will live in a sandbox and only available to those with the proper credentials, ensuring the general public will not stumble upon it before it’s finalized and approved by you and your team.

Step Six
Testing
Working with your team and people not involved until now, every facet of the new website or app is tested to ensure an optimal user experience including features, functionality, desired user interactions, speed, and security. We ensure your website is WCAG compliant by checking your website using browser plugins for basic errors then humans test it thoroughly for additional errors including comprehension, color ratios, and traps.

Launch
The finish line! We make your website or app live for the general public to find, use, and consume.

Maintenance
Whether you want an update to content or functionality, we’re here to help. If contracted or requested to do so, we perform periodic security updates and review SEO quarterly to refine if necessary.
